Parker Moore, FamilyConnect Youth, Becomes a Star on YouTube!

The talented and confident 11 year old young lady Parker Moore has become a star on YouTube! Parker's video interview that is featured on FamilyConnect has been picked up on YouTube and she has received over 800 hits (and counting) with a five-star rating!

Parker has been blind since birth from a rare eye disease called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. She is now an energetic and imaginative child who enjoys life to the fullest through her acting on stage, singing, and learning at the Arkansas School for the Blind. Parker's advice to parents in raising their children who are blind is "Don't worry about them, just treat them like normal kids." Bravo to her mom, Shelli Moore, who has provided her with great parenting. I know that your family's story and example will be of great encouragement and hope for those parents and kids who may be struggling at times when coping adjusting to blindness. Please check their story out and share with other families you may know. Also we, at FamilyConnect, would like to hear from you about your family stories. What a great way to show off your kids!

That is so awesome! Way to go Parker! I would love to see more children who are blind participate in theater and performing arts. My son, Brandon, is an actor, singer, and dancer, too, performing in musicals for community theater, modeling, and now moving his way toward theater. You can see a demo of some of his performances on You Tube under Brandon Keith and visit him on MySpace at www.myspace.com/brandonkeithcom or www.brandonkeith.com

Wouldn't it be great for Parker and Brandon to meet someday. We are now living in the Bay area of California and are originally from Washington State.

I meant "moving his way toward television acting."

Hi Sonja!
I'm Parker's mom and I am so proud of her. She loves being on stage and was in a local commercial a couple of years ago. After waiting for hours to act, just to have to wait again, she decided that TV was not for her LOL! She loves the attention she receives when she is performing! She is involved in cheer leading at school and loves the interaction between the audience and the cheerleaders! Her new "thing" is video taping herself dancing! Though she can't watch it, she loves the idea of visual images and always asks "what am I doing now"?

How wonderful for Brandon that he has a strong support system! Sky's the limit! I would love for the two to meet someday! We will check you guys out on Myspace!

I'd like to thank Susan LaVenture for all of her support she has given to me and Parker. If it weren't for her and our fateful meeting at the Arkansas NAPVI Garden Party Fundraiser, Parker may not have had the opportunity to tell her story on FamilyConnect. I sure wish this kind of support was available 12 years ago!

God Bless!
Shelli Moore

I'm not surprised that this dynamo is climbing the charts. I had the pleasure of meeting Parker and Mom, Shelli, when we were filming these videos. Parker stole the show and all of our hearts. In fact, Jim, the person who filmed the video was just in our office yesterday saying that saying that if Parker ever needed adopting, to sign him up. I told him there's a long line for that.

Oh, my gosh! When can Ethan, 11, and Parker have their first meeting?!

Parker is absolutely adorable! And what a measure of confidence...just what I'll be looking for in a life partner for Ethan ;-)

We're all theater people, too, and Ethan told me just last week, "Mom, I want to do it all; acting, directing..."

Perhaps the two of them will meet in college or NYC after while they're starving their way to the top of the 'boards.' (This, from an old hoofer! I. e., the Braille jewelry lady.)

Best luck to you all, and keep up the good work, Shelly. They won't thank you for being easy!

Sincerest best wishes,
Leslie
