Susan LaVenture It's getting very exciting as the International Families Connecting with Families Conference to be held in Boston July 27-29, 2012 is coming near. To date, we have families registered from 20 states and four countries (Canada, Germany, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom) planning to participate and convene together!

We also know that many familes intend on attending are just making their plans now for travel and reservations at the conference site at the Boston Marriott Newton Hotel. For this reason, NAPVI was able to negotiate with the hotel to extend our special discounted room rate of $119 per night. To take advantage of this special hotel room rate you must make your room reservations by July 13, 2012. Learn more about how to book your conference hotel room and take advantage of the special rate.

If you're going, let the world know! Here are buttons you can put on your blog or upload to Facebook to share the word with your friends.

Some conference highlights include:

  • NAPVI is hosting a pre-session conference on Friday July 27 for NAPVI Affiliate Parents' Associations and Parent Leaders interested in starting a chapter. The program includes an opprtunity for parent leaders to share ideas and experiences together in organizing activities and fundraising to support them. Parents will learn how to use new social networking and affiliate web page features on www.FamilyConnect.org to promote your organizations.
  • There will be 20 Eye Condition Networking groups on Saturday morning; this has always been a favorite for parents to meet and network with other parents who have a child with the same rare eye condition.
  • The Saturday evening family event will be hosted by Perkins School for the Blind on their campus in Watertown, Massachusetts. We'll be having fun for the whole family: barbeque, music, and recreational actitivities! Perkins is one of the first schools for the blind established in the United States and is internationally known for their expertise in the education for children with visual impairments and deaf-blindness.

If you have not registered for the conference yet, you can register directly online via www.FamilyConnect.org!

We look forward to seeing you in Boston soon!

Warm Regards,

Susan LaVenture
NAPVI Executive Director
