Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Assessment
    • Conducts vision screenings for preschool-age children upon request.
  • Community Outreach Programs
    • Screens persons in factories and senior citizen center participants.
  • Counseling
    • Offers psychosocial evaluation and individual, group, family/parent, couple counseling and referral to community services. Refers and provides consultation to other agencies for other counseling/social work services.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Provides instruction in personal management, use of video magnifier, orientation and mobility in client's home and community. Refers and provides consultation to other agencies for other rehabilitation services.
  • Employment/Job Training
    • Provides sheltered workshops and follow-up services. Refers and provides consultation to other agencies for other employment-oriented services.
  • Information and Referral
    • Provides referrals.
  • Recreation Services
    • Provides limited activities.
  • Travel/Orientation and Mobility
    • Provides orientation and mobility training.

Services for Children

  • Assessment
    • Provides an initial assessment to find out what needs an individual has. Vision screenings are provided. Offers education and demonstration of adaptive equipment that might be helpful and information on various programs that are available.
  • Braille and Reading Instruction
    • Offers referrals for those interested in braille instruction. Assists in obtaining large print or audio material.
  • Information and Referral
    • Provides the most up-to-date information in general and on the local area. Referrals are sent to agencies or programs that seem to be the most helpful and are agreed upon by the family.
