What do you believe are the benefits of a parent/professional collaboration related to the Expanded Core Curriculum?

I firmly believe that families are the number-one teachers. They know their child better than anyone else in the world and if there is not a strong collaboration between school and home, those skills cannot be taught and reinforced.

I think that it is extremely important that we be on the same page. If a professional has low expectations and a family has high, we're giving the students mixed messages. So we want professionals and families to collaborate and have high expectations, work collaboratively on what skills are being taught, and how they can be reinforced at home. Have parents tell professionals what they're working on at home, so the professional can reinforce that at school. That partnership is so critical and key to the success of that child.
