Accommodation for low vision, Nystagmus student - contrasting stripes on stairs

My 6th grader is having issues getting around her new school, as it has 2 floors!

We have our first assessment meeting with the school tomorrow and I am afraid that they will think I'm nuts when I request that they paint contrasting stripes on the steps and stairs around the school.

Is this an ususual request?  Her Opthalmologist completed the state-required form for this meeting.

    My dd's school taped of all playground equipment ..bright red. It is only one floor. I absolutely think you should ask them. Good luck.

    Hello,

    Is your child receiving O and M services? As a mobility specialist, I have adapted various surfaces for my students to make them high contrast. You have every right to ask this from your provider. Good Luck!
