Need Tips on Riding a Bike

My son has SOD and is completely blind, he is 6 now and recently told me he wants to ride a bike. He had a tricycle when he was smaller but had the extra handle for steering.  I mentioned tandem bikes, but wants his own.. any tips? What worked for your child?

    How about an Ambucs bike? You can google it. I know they have "trikes" not sure if they have a bicycle. They are expensive, but I believe they have assistance programs. If I find the website, I'll post it.

    we did a trailing bike....dont remember the exact name for it. it didnt have a front wheel, but had handlbars and where the front wheel was supposed to be hooked under the seat of an adult bike. Later, as Liz got older, we bought a tandem bike and really take to the road now!

    Thank you guys for your suggestions. It was between a BuddyBike (too expensive and test ride didn't go so well) or a Trail-a-Bike.. we plan on ordering a Trail-a-Bike soon. Thanks!

    We bought my son a bike with training wheels for his 6th birthday. He has yet to ride it more than a few feet by himself. He will get on, but like a kid who just lost his training wheels, he wants to have us hold the seat and walk/run beside him. He absolutely hates when the bike wobbles a little to the side and that sends him right back off the bike.

    We purchased a trial behind bike and attach it to hubby's bike. Every summer the first ride is a bit scary for him, but once we get going he's fine. I have a feeling we will soon be considering a tandem or a trike for him as he is finally starting to get too heavy for hubby to pull him around everywhere. The trail behind simply doesn't give enough pedal power to help with the weight of the extra person once they are growing.
