There's a lot besides the "3 Rs" for your son to learn during the grade school years of kindergarten through sixth grade. The Expanded Core Curriculum is a set of disability-specific skills that students with visual impairments need to learn in addition to the same things they and their sighted classmates are learning in their general education classes. To be successful in school, your child may need to have his assignments adapted into braille, electronic files, audio or large print formats, in addition to learning organizational skills to manage his time and materials.
