Each year your child is getting more independent in caring for her needs. You don't have to be right there with her as she takes care of her personal needs for bathing, dressing, and hair care. If your child is a girl, as she nears the teenage years, she'll have to prepare for her first menstrual cycle—a big event for both of you! As a person with a visual impairment she'll need guidance and preparation to successfully navigate this entrance into womanhood.
